The Reverend Karl F. Suhr, Jr. – Pastor

Pastor Fred Suhr and his wife, Joan, are the proud parents of three children, Ashlyn, David and Rebecca. They live in Little Mountain.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Pastor Suhr graduated from Lakeside High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from The Citadel in Charleston, SC, and a Master of Divinity Degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. During seminary, he served his internship as Vicar of Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

Ordained in 1984, Pastor Suhr has served as Associate Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC (1984-1986); Pastor of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Dalton, GA (1986-1993); and Pastor of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Little Mountain, SC (1993-Present).

In addition to his parish ministry, Pastor Suhr served with the Bureau for Federal Chaplaincies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as a Chaplain (Colonel) in the Army National Guard. During thirty years with the military, his ministry has included serving tours of duty as a Combat Support Hospital Chaplain in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait, and as a Task Force Chaplain in Operation Noble Eagle IV for homeland security and community based health care operations in the United States. His final assignment was as the Joint Forces Headquarters / State Chaplain for the National Guard in South Carolina.

A native of Danville, Virginia, moved to South Carolina in 2003.  She has been with Holy Trinity since 2006.
